This sculpture is a metaphor for the psychological struggle that pits the conscious Ego against the personal unconscious, which are the events and experiences of the past that formed the soul, and that now resist any change – for good or ill. Carl Jung’s insights on the structure of the psyche are the inspiration for the metaphor.
